Woo, Last night was awesome - apart from one persons behavior but meh.

Haven't been that drunk in a long time, loving the feeling of slowly coming back to life the morning afterwards, pasta + 4 pints of tasty tasy water = YES.

    Heresy?
I was gonna make a large post about this, but to be honest it doesn't deserve it.

Eternal Sonata is the worst game I have ever played.

So I've been spending the time I had free from writing a monster 60 page report on Blue Dragon recently. Damn.

Two events so far have stuck out in my mind.

    1) You walk into a village full of robots. at first glance they seem to be mindless automatons. referring to themselves in the third person and each taking a name such as No.177, you don't feel much of a connection with them. That changes through a number of quests based in the area, as you help them one at a time to come to terms with their individuality, naming them and helping them to overcome their programming to acheive a higher purpose. The personal achievement of liberating them from their slavery is fantastic.

As you finish this task, the main bad guy of the series turns up, switches an over-ride and forces them to attack you. They know who they are, know who you are, and are powerless to stop themselves from running into the unavoidable slaughter your party offers. The sight of the characters you control screaming the names of the friends they cut down is... Moving, to say the least.

    2) You arrive at a village surrounded by trees, and containing one giant one at the centre. You're stipped of all magical powers, and informed that the centre tree has been slowly devouring the residents - using it's branches to literally pick living morsels out of their daily lives and slowly chew them over a matter of days to feed itself. Your first mission is to stop the children, ten year old children, whos parents were recently eaten on display from commiting suicide.

    Jesus.

This is a kids game. Rated 12+. I've recently been playing GTA4 as well, an "adult" game, and between the above and running over/mowing down a few faceless whores, I know which affected me more. My God.

    lol wut?
Who randomly started cybersexing with me today? It was very strange, I assumed it was one of you guys so I steered the conversation onto the wierdest stuff I could think of to scare them off, didn't work. It was decidedly odd, especially since I was watching DragonBall Z at the time.

In other news, started playing the Wii Zelda game. The style of it is awesome, and I've really enjoyed the game, but what is up with the controls, seriously. Fuck off Nintendo, If it aint broke, don't add a shitty gimmick to re-sell it. Everything with the Wii mote has been "hey, I can really swing it to attack enemies, thats kinda cool... oh wait, no matter which way I swing it it does exactly the same attack, some attacks use my left hand and some my right, some you use buttons for anyway, this is about as immersive as half an inch of nearly dried concrete." I don't think there's been a single thing which would have been easier, quicker, more immersive and more fun using the standard OOT controls.

Lets hope Metroid is better. And that my freaky stalker owns up!

Physics applied to physiology is officially the hardest exam I have ever had. Not only do you have to know more chemistry, biology, physics and electronics than I've ever learnt for an individual course, and not only is the lecturer shite, but half the questions weren't even on the frigging syllabus!

Pissed off about how much work I put into it now. At least everyone else found it hard as well so hopefully some standardising will go on somewhere.

Ahh well. Two down, Three to go.

Also, sexy new LCD screen is seeeeeeeeeexy.

All night revising has really screwed my sleep schedule up! Still, I know a lot more about physiology and soft matter physics than I did a few days ago ^^

Probably make a full post at some point when my brain starts working normally.

Just a quick note to Stu - everyone else has paid me for the last electricity bill, but you still owe me £30 for it. Also, did you still need me to sign something so you can get your deposit back?

Not updated in a while, so here goes.

Firstly, I thought movie night went down really well! - everybody seemed to enjoy it, and I had a great time. Blade runner wasn't actually as good as I remember, but Fear and loathing in Las Vegas was amazing (I hadn't seen it before)
i'm still trying to think of ideas for the next one, but since the next few weekends are booked up with housewarming parties it might be three weeks before we can do another. On the other hand, if anyone would be interested in coming to one sometime next week on thursday, make a post!

Also, currently been loosing hours of my life to final fantasy ten. I hate the story, the characters, and about everything else about it sucks so much, but the rare bosses are just soo much harder than anything seen in an FF game before, and the battle/levelling system is really fun. And I love a challenge! I'll beat them one day!

    Movie Nights!
Right, I posted about this a while ago, but we were having the idea of running a few movie nights in our house this year - mainly well known films that not too many people have seen, high rated classics and cult movies alike (The top lists at the imdb were a source of great inspiration there :P)

Anyway, the first one will be next tuesday! The films to be shown will be:

    Blade Runner
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

We're aiming to start at about 6-7pm, but if this is a problem for anyone/everyone arrives early that can be subject to change. I know a few people are coming from work so they can't make it any earlier than that.

Also, I already have six people interested, and our living room is sadly finite, so if you could drop a message here if you want to come that would be great.

I have had enough of these motherfucking snakes, on my motherfucking plane!
Snakes on a plane was awesome, started off the evening with some DDR - always a good thing in my book ^^. Was on reflection a bad idea, as I spent the entire movie as thirsty as hell. Despite chris kindly offering me some of his drink, I've had a mouth ulcer for the past few days and it hurts like anything so I decided not to risk it. The film was awesome - in the worst possible way of course. Soo many comedy moments.

Also, in other news, the electricity bill for May,June and July arrived today, so I need 30 quid off Dom, Stu and James, if you are reading this. I realise that you all left the house before the end of july, but to be honest I can't remember the exact dates, and over a three month bill I don't think it would make to much difference. Still, if you could give me a shout about collecting the money or drop it off next time you see me that would be great. Thanks a lot.

Was just talking to Damian and StuB, thought I'd just put in a quick LJ note about tonight.

So, to confirm, it's 8pm, AMC. The film doesn't start till 8:40, but we want plenty of time to get tickets ahead of any possible hype, and probably also to grab a few drinks, they can only make it better.

    The grass was always greener
Nostalgia, i must admit that I am a victim of it at the best of times. Anime series, computer games, even social relationships, meeting old friends, playing old games and watching old shows often makes me think, Why did I like this? And more to the point, why was I arguing with James/Stu about how good it was for the past four weeks? but, I guess that is the price of the human memory. The grass was always greener on the previous side...

    However!...
(Yes, this is the optimistic moment you were waiting for)
I am proud to say, the same does not always apply!
    (What could this possibly be?)

I was just playing GoldenEye :D
The graphics, the music, the levels, the objectives, everything wows me just as much now as when I first played it. This is the mark of a good game, and, nostalgia mists aside, although I would list a number of games that share the same accolade, I can think of only 4, all of which graced nintendos N64. Thank god, thank whatever, but thank it non-the-less, we have nintendo.

    If..
It occured to me today, that despite all the wierd and downright insane things I have done in my life, I have never done anything I truly regretted. Sure, there have been things that I shouldn't have done (New year comes to mind), or things that I look back on and think "why?", but in almost every case I can trace both a reason for doing them and a response that has worked out for the greater good. About the closest I can think of to things I regret was some of the things I said to chris in the second year, but even those were backed by appropriate emotions, wether they tuned out for better or worse.

In short, I was pondering the question; "If you could live your life again, would you change anything?" and to be honest, I don't think I would.

I love my friends, my family, and my girlfriend most of all. Further than that I truly believe that the people who don't like me are due to unfortunate exceptions, and could be sorted out with a talk. But maybe thats just the optimist in me, I hope so :D.

Right, well, hardly anyone has wrote in the other LJ post, or expressed an interest in actually coming to see any films, s on the surface that seemed like a bad idea :D

But then loads of people suggested films over mail or msn so I have about 30 lined up now, since me, Bala, StuB and/or Damian wanted to see quite a few of them, this should work out quite well. I'll lay down an LJ post a few days before we watch each film in case anyone wants to come over and watch it. This will be in a few weeks once everyone gets back into manchester though.

Firstly, for those of you who have their heads in the sand, or don't have sky TV, for the past few days, Film Four has been free.

    I say this not because I am being paid by them for yet more of their already over-saturated advertising, but to explain the following comments;

Over the past few days I have seen an in-proportional amount of incredible films. This has made me think about a great many things, but foremost of which is the idea of having a movie night at our house (MUJS HQ) once a week to show off a film which one of us has enjoyed.

Now, I have a few films in mind for starters, but I'm really looking for ideas at this point, so if anyone can post films which they have enjoyed/express interest in the idea, I would be very gratefull. Thanks in advance!

Well, I've just seen the new Phantasy Star Universe Trailer at http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=4710415738633051987&q=Phantasy+Star+Universe

I've already cancelled my World Of Warcraft subscription, no sense in wasting time :D

Seriously though, the end game content in WoW was kinda shit, and it just never held me as much as PSO did - even before the latest PSO news I'd dropped to playing it a few hours a week, if that. Anyway, no MMORPGs has given me a new lease of life! It's amazing how much time those things take up. In the past week I've been going to teh gym at least once a week, playing badminton with my old friends, and reading all the books I had to catch up on. In short, living a non-geeky life. I'm sure it's bad for my health.
